2016 Audi A4 3.0 TDI is Fun to Drive

The new 3.0 TDI is a six-cylinder diesel fun to drive vehicle, a wealthy heir to Audi A4

What is it?

Although the new Audi A4 is deeply impressive executive saloon, classy inside, fun to drive, exceptionally quiet and offers strong competition to its rivals, the BMW 3 Series and Jaguar XE.

But when it comes to the 2.0 TID Ultra diesel models, they may have lost a star for their standard sports suspension but they are cheaper as compared to the 3.0 TDI 272 quattro which is bit pricy than others. The 2.0 litre diesel engine offers the best economy.

What engine it bears?

The 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine may not be more powerful than the 2.0 TDI 190, but still it is fast enough and takes 6.6 seconds to get to 62mph from standstill.

The front wheel drive is pretty good at wet and slippery terrains but the Quattro version is admired more although it hikes CO2 emissions.

As standard, the 3.0 TDI 218 models get Audi’s A4 impressive seven-speed automatic gearbox which shifts real smooth. The Dynamic mode keeps the revs up thus becoming a bit jerky in stop-start traffic and when you park.

The average combined fuel economy of the 3.0 TDI 218 is claimed at 62.8mpg whereas in real world it returned 43.5mpg.

What’s it like inside?

Just like every other Audi, this one also offers classy, minimalist interior with super intuitive interior. Audi’s standard MMI infotainment system feature 7.0in display mounted on the dashboard and controlled with a rotary dial located between the front seats.

Other standard features include sat-nav and a 12.3in screen which comes with the Audi’s new digital Virtual Cockpit. Then you get the adjustments for the steering wheel and seats.

Is it a good buy?

Yes of course. You get a four-cylinder diesel engine and without sacrificing refinement or performance you save loads of money.
