Rover Engine History
1904 : Rover launched the Rover 8 .The first production Rover car cost £200. It was a two-seater with no windscreen as standard, no rear suspension and no roof.
1927 : Rover introduced the Light Six. The £325 Light Six had a maximum speed of 60mph. It earned fame when it became the first car to strike a train on the 750-mile trip from Calais to the French Riviera and come first in the Blue Train Race, averaging 38mph.
1933 : Rover introduced the Rover 10.
1948 : After WWII Rover build out a market for a light Jeep-style of four wheel drives.
1952 : Rover 75 launched.
1963 : Rover introduced the Rover 2000.
1969 : P5B contain the 3.5 litre V8 shoe horned into a classic Rover body form but given a lower, rakish roof line.
1975 : Rover 3500 launched.
1986 : Rover SD1 introduced.
1988 : British Aerospace purchased Rover Group.
1994 : BMW purchased Rover Group.
1999 : New owner BMW produced the Rover 75 as an executive car.
